By Alyssa and Sage, Co-founders of Peach Pack in collaboration with girledworld
Hey everyone! Sage and Alyssa here - Co-founders of Peach Pack.
First and foremost, Peach Pack is a community of women, coming together to have important conversations about periods, women's health and so much more. We aim to break the stigma, and taboos surrounding periods and encourage women to feel empowered by their sense of womanhood. Peach Pack also creates period packs, which get delivered straight to your door. These packs include organic period products, as well as a curation of self-care products that enable you to celebrate your period and take extra time out for self-care and self-love.
What motivated you to start Peach Pack?
Sage and I have been a part of one and others’ lives for a while now, and having honest and vulnerable conversations is something we wholeheartedly value. You can usually find us in a deep and meaningful chat concerning life, sex, relationships, health and very often the stigma surrounding periods! One morning we went for coffee with a friend, who was telling us about subscription-based businesses. After a few hours of chatting, we realised, what is more, essential to women than having a beautiful period pack for their monthly flow? It seemed pretty perfect. A product which was an extension of our friendship; our passion for womanhood/periods/feminism! After months of brainstorming, we established the foundational pillars of our business; breaking the stigma, using organic/natural products, building a community for people to talk about their periods, and most importantly giving back to those that need it most. It was these pillars that informed the creation of the Peach Pack.
Have both of you always known that you wanted to become entrepreneurs?
No! I really never thought of myself as an innovative, young entrepreneur. I felt like it was never something I grew up aspiring to be. I always knew I wanted to make a positive impact on the world. I grew up wanting to contribute to something bigger than myself, create something that shifts people's attitudes and values. Peach Pack enables me to do this in all the best ways!
Tell us a bit about your new product launch!
After launching in the US a while back, Sage and I always wanted to bring Peach Pack back to Australia. We tried to tailor the product to the Australian market, so the Blossom Pack is launching as a one-off product purchase. The Blossom Pack bundles sanitary products and self-care items into a nifty eco-friendly box. It delivers them straight to consumers' doors. First-timers can also add in the Starter Pack Guide to their delivery, which is a carefully curated booklet that explores periods and tackles a range of menstrual-related questions.
We are so excited to be launching the product, as we think there is enormous potential to use the pack as an educational tool. We are wanting to go into schools and help young girls relate to their periods with ease and confidence.
This pack is also teaming up with some incredible brands. In particular, we have collaborated with the legends at TOM Organic to deliver organic cotton sanitary items, alongside a range of self-care products to the doorsteps of Aussie consumers. The Blossom Pack also has a clear social standing with a portion of its proceeds going towards supporting women and providing menstruation products to those in need.
So this gorgeous pack of ours, that we’ve put a lot of love in creating, is ready for purchase at 9am on the 5th of August to our Aussie customers, and we could not be more excited!
Have you had any support from family, friends, and mentors along the way? If so, what advice or wisdom did they pass onto you?
We are so grateful that we have had the privilege to be surrounded by such a supportive network. Whether that’s our family, friends or mentors, we are amazed at the generosity we have received. I believe that the best price of advice that we have received from both our respective families, is to be assertive in our mission and to be confident in our ability to create something that we are proud of. Giving up is not an option and learning from your failures is the only way we can grow and develop. Long story short, keep pushing!
Do you have any advice for young women like you, who want to launch their own businesses?
Trust yourself and don’t be afraid to make mistakes! Everyone is always growing and learning and as soon as you accept that this journey is a long one, whereby you’ll make lots (and LOTS!) of mistakes, the sooner you’ll be able to learn and develop as a person, and as a business! In short, Don't be afraid of the hurdles, because hurdles are the foundation of any success story. It’s about learning to jump and take that leap of faith that will get you over the bumps, and closer to your overall missions and goals.
