GIRLEDWORLD WOW SUMMIT 2019 PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Friday February 15, 2019 9.30am-4.30pm DAY OVERVIEW
A Day of Design Thinking, Entrepreneurship and Real World Problem Solving FOR GIRLS.
We took everything you loved from the sell-out 2017 girledworld Big Ideas Leadership Summit (University of Melbourne) and the girledworld WOW (World of Work) Summit 2018 at RMIT and went to the next level for the opening day of the girledworld WOW Summit 2019 at the University of Sydney!
girledworld welcomed 100’s of future female change makers (currently in Years 7 to 12) to the university to give students skills in entrepreneurship, Design Thinking and real-world problem solving, in partnership with our Industry Challenge players Microsoft, Virgin Australia and Women For Election Australia.
Design Thinking Challenges were led by a dynamic, hand-picked squad of industry specialists, innovation coaches, entrepreneurs and University of Sydney experts, and our young female changemakers worked together across a day of Design Thinking modules to unpack complex problems and work to solutions on three real-world pain points.
At the conclusion of the workshop, participants had the opportunity to work with entrepreneurs and public speaking coaches to refine their pitches, then pitch their bold new ideas and business models to a panel of incredible judges.
All attendees for the Friday program (Day 1) received a Micro-Credential in Design Thinking to add to their resumes.

SATURDAY february 16, 2019 9.30AM-4.30PM DAY OVERVIEW
Saturday (Day 2) welcomed hundreds of high school girls (currently in Year 7 to Year 12) and connected them with a powerful network of inspiring female industry leaders, STEM champions and career role models across a massive day of World Shaping, Future Facing and Work Ready career education keynotes, interactive presentations and skill-building teamwork sessions.
This wasn’t your average careers conference.
This was an event especially designed to engage girls at their level, so they can better shape their future pathways. Through our work with universities, best practice education research and our engagement with thousands of high school girls across Australia we know that career decision making and school subject choices can be highly confusing and a roller coaster in the upper years of high school.
So the girledworld WOW Summit 2019 program was curated and designed just for Australian high school girls, empowering, educating and equipping them to make informed decisions about their individual career pathways with the new World Of Work front of mind.
World of Work career Summits are a great way for teenage girls to meet and learn from inspiring female role models who “tell it like it is”, open the door to emerging industries, uncover the job opportunities of tomorrow, and start girls goal setting and planning for their future career pathways while still in the upper years of high school.
Speakers (live keynotes and virtual speakers) included Holly Ransom Emergent, Aubrey Blanche Atlassian, Anna Liebel Unisuper, Rita Arigo Microsoft, Dr Catherine Lopes PwC, Dr Catherine Ball She Flies and World of Drones, Madeleine Grummet girledworld, Rebecca Ruggles Airbnb, Liz Devlin Twitter and many more!
All attendees received a Certificate of Critical Thinking to add to their resumes.
