We pitched our girledworld mission to Silicon-Valley founded startup Airbnb in the US early in our genesis because we knew that, like them, we had a positive, actionable solution for workplace diversity, tech inclusion that transcends gender, unconscious bias and race, and the building of a Next Gen equitable business world that’s fuelled by diverse voices, shared values and equal gender representation at global and local levels.
Lucky for us, they got it.
Lucky, because for those of you who are into purpose, a reminder that when you're starting out, you need to find a businesses you can really talk to, that gets what you're about, and that is solving the kind of problems you are. Forget the posturing, blustering and bullshit - at the start, and end, of the day, it comes down to purpose.
Airbnb are way ahead of the field when it comes it purpose.
So we’re seriously truly delighted to have the support, mission synergy and purposeful, powerful and inspiring Airbnb APAC Manager Eva Ross across the girledworld Big Ideas Leadership Summit 2017 – an Australia-first experiential learning event for secondary school girls in Years 7-12 where Ross will bring her personal learnings, business mentorship and Airbnb 'Belong Anywhere' story to our audience of hundreds of Secondary School girls at the University of Melbourne on Sunday June 25, 2017.
Airbnb are our diversity partner across this event and represent a fundamental role and voice within the global female startup ecosystem, which includes elevating women in tech, breaking open UX bias and playing a global role as an exemplary poster-company taking the lead in cracking open unconscious bias, fighting discrimination and building workplace inclusion.
We applaud their work at the user interface, within their organization, and within their Airbnb company mission to 'Belong Anywhere'.
And we look forward to bringing this powerful message to girls at the girledworld Big Ideas Leadership Summit 2017, across the country via livestream, and to working with Eva Ross and the @airbnb APAC team to build inclusivity, live together better and make belonging anywhere a reality for all.
The inaugural girledworld Big Ideas Leadership Summit 2017 will take place at the University of Melbourne's Wade Institute of Entrepreneurship on Saturday June 24 and Sunday June 25, 2017.
