So I’m just a little bit obsessed right now with a podcast that is all about startups.
How I Built This is an American podcast about "innovators, entrepreneurs, idealists, and the stories behind the movements they built" produced by NPR. The series gives you a huge variety of founders to listen to, and great insight into what it takes to build a business from scratch.
Guy Raz is a brilliant interviewer, has a low-key really listenable style, and gets some of the biggest global names in startup behind the mic to casually chat through how they took their businesses from the seed of an idea to billion-dollar enterprises that have gone on to scale across the planet.
It’s relatable, insightful, human stuff - and comes from a place of entertainment and storytelling rather than business and corporate speak up front in your grill.
It’s well worth a scroll through the backlog of episodes to see who you might just learn from as you listen in to their Founder story. Get up close and personal with the founders of DropBox, Stripe, Barre2, Rent The Runway, Urban Decay, Cisco, Bobbi Brown, We Work, Angie’s LIst and stacks more. Check it out here.
Awesome brain food for when you’re in transit, walking, sitting in the sun …. so much good stuff. GWx
